PorterVac is now ISO Accredited

PorterVac is proud to announce that we have been certified with 3 International Standard Organisation (ISO) accreditations; ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 :2018 and, most recently, ISO 9001:2015. These accreditations have taken a full team effort to refine all of our company processes and they are a reflection of our vision to execute roofing builds and maintenance to the highest possible standards.

Of course, everyone at PorterVac had been working toward the positive outcomes specified in the ISO standards for a long time before we sought to be officially recognised. Now, by using this global standard to measure our performance, we have a way to frame success that will have the best outcomes for our customers, our team, and the environment.

iso.org – the International Organization for Standardisation – based in Switzerland, has been around since 1946 and has introduced nearly 24,000 international standards, each covering distinct aspects of technology and manufacturing. These ISO standards are designed, in the groups words,  “ to support global trade, drive inclusive and equitable economic growth, advance innovation and promote health and safety to achieve a sustainable future”. Receiving an accreditation for an ISO standard means that a business has consistently met these sets of regularly updated, globally recognised criteria.

PorterVac’s philosophy of applying systems based approaches to refine our roofing practises was a natural fit with the ISO system so we have sought and achieved 3 distinct ISO accreditations – for Health & Safety, Environmental Management, and Quality Management.

The health and safety of our employees and customers is PorterVac’s primary concern on any project. ISO 45001 provides a framework for Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems, and gives guidance for its use in safe and healthy workplaces.

Preventing work-related injuries and fostering a physically & mentally healthy team environment at PorterVac has always been a big part of our business. Physical injuries are an ever-present risk when working at heights, and we look to protect our team and customers by providing safety features which exceed code. With a team that is happy and healthy, PorterVac is able to focus on our craftsmanship and delivering great work to our customers. We look at this ISO 45001 framework as a logical extension of our approach to business.

The ISO 45001:2018 framework enables us to continually improve upon our Occupational Health and Safety performance, fulfil legal and industry requirements and, most important of all, to always look after the wellbeing of our team – even as our business and customer base continues to grow.

Porter Vac’s ISO 14001 accreditation marks our commitment to be a sustainable business as this ISO standard identifies requirements for an internationally recognised Environmental Management System (EMS).

Every PorterVac employee from our management team to our field workers, mechanics, sales team and our schedulers understands that sustainable development and minimising our environmental impact is a critical function of the job.

All of our roofing repairs and installations aim not only to make your home more resistant to weather, but also to make homes more energy efficient – both in summer and winter. Each of the products we use to clean and repair roofing adhere to clear environmental guidelines; from the products we use to clean moss from tiles to the de-ionised & distilled water we use for solar panel cleaning – every choice is made to extend the life of your roofing and have minimal negative impact on the ecosystem in your neighbourhood. Environmental consciousness is a cornerstone of our business wether that be for commercial or residential roofing.

For PorterVac, our ISO 14001 accreditation means that we are recognised not only for our compliance with legal and regulatory environmental requirements, but also for our consistent efforts to reduce any impact that we may have on the environment at each stage of cleaning, repairing and re-roofing our customers homes.

ISO 9001 :2015 is a Quality Management System accreditation which mirrors many of our long held company philosophies;
maintaining industry leadership with constant refinements to our services, being dedicated to a balance between customer service and employee well being, and pursuing socially responsible business growth.
This certification is valid for 3 years at which point we must seek reaccreditation – it is not just a certificate on the wall of the boss’s office, it is a statement that we will never stop working on improving upon the service, techniques and internal processes which we believe have made us an industry leading roofing company.

Unlike our other ISO accreditations, ISO 9001 :2015 required a formal auditing process that included documentation checks, extensive reviews of our quality management system, and revision and updating of any practises that were non-compliant. PorterVac promoted these system enhancements and recommendations in a company-wide push to achieve the ISO 9001: 2015 accreditation.
To achieve the ISO 9001 accreditation our senior leadership team had to be on their best form – leaders had to develop and communicate policies and goals to all team members as they must drive the continued development and improvement of all management systems from now on.

PorterVac’s accreditation of ISO 9001 is a massive achievement, and the result of many months of streamlining by our management team, multiple process audits, and much hard work done by all.

We are dedicated to constantly refining how we work because we believe that our customers and every one of us at PorterVac stands to benefit. We’re sure that we’ll be up to the task of exceeding expectations and gaining reaccreditation in 2024.
